A Message From...Mrs. Kuruzar

We're in the last stretch of summer! We hope that you're making the most of this final month with enjoyable activities and some well-deserved rest and relaxation. We are looking forward to having all of our scholars make in the building soon!

Our first day of school is August 1, 202! Please keep in mind that our start time is 7:30AM. Scholars that are car-riders and walkers will be able to enter the building starting at 7:20 AM.

Be sure to follow the traffic pattern for arrival to ensure safety and efficiency. Parent and guardians will not be able to enter the building with their scholar. We will have our staff available to help scholar's find their classrooms and get breakfast.  Bus-riders should arrive at their stop 5 minutes earlier than the assigned time. Parents and guardians should download the ParentView App to track your scholar's bus.

As we plunge into the upcoming academic year, make sure you're prepared for Day 1. The newsletter for this month will provide you with essential tasks to get set for the first day of school. Completing these tasks will guarantee a solid beginning to our school year. If you have any inquiries about completing these tasks, feel free to contact me via email at lkuruzar@adelanteschools.org or by phone at 317-909-4734.

Finally, we hope you will join us at our Back to School Luau on July 27th from 11AM to 1PM. This event aims to assist families in getting ready for the upcoming school year and to mark the beginning of the school year with exciting activities. Enjoy inflatables, music, complimentary food, games, and more. Our team will be on hand to address any queries you may have regarding the school year. Come out and have some fun with us!

We will be sending a final First Day of School prep newsletter your way on July 24th.

Onward,

Mrs. Kuruzar

Looking Ahead!

Our goal is to provide you with the latest updates on everything occurring at your school. As we embark on a new school year, it is essential for us to keep you well-informed about what lies ahead. We have introduced various new elements to our program and are refining some of our key policies as we prepare for the upcoming academic year.

  • New! Digital Learning Class

We are thrilled to introduce a new course for our K-8 scholars. They will participate in a Digital Learning Class as one of their weekly class rotations for integrated arts. Scholars will acquire library skills, typing abilities, research and presentation skills, and coding expertise.

  • New! Athletics Offered

Exciting developments are underway for our athletics programs in the upcoming school year!

    • Flag Football
    • Futsal
    • Tennis
    • Cheerleading
    • K-3 Basketball Clinic

We are continuously seeking dedicated coaches. If you or someone you know is interested, feel free to reach out to Mr. Keys, our Athletic Director.

All scholars in grades 4th-8th MUST have a sports physical on file in order to try out for the team.

    Contact Mr. Keys
  • REMINDER! Uniform Policy

At Emma Donnan, we adhere to a strict uniform policy to create a conducive environment for learning and safety. Ensuring that scholars are in proper uniform allows us to focus on academics without distractions. It is crucial for scholars to be in uniform daily to maintain this productive atmosphere. We kindly request your cooperation in making sure your scholar is dressed in the designated attire before arriving at school each day.

Scholars are required to wear either an Emma Donnan or Adelante shirt paired with jeans (without rips), khakis, navy, or gray pants. Footwear must be closed-toed and cover the entire foot; Crocs, slides, slippers, and sandals are not permitted.

Consequences, such as loss of recess or extracurricular activities, detention, etc., will be enforced for scholars who do not comply with the uniform policy.

If you require help with obtaining uniforms, kindly fill out our assistance form. We do offer limited donations that we can allocate to families in need.

  • UPDATED! Scholar Cell Phone Policy

State law (SB 185) prohibits scholars from using a wireless communication device (i.e. - cellular telephone, tablet computer, non-school laptop computer, smart watches, or gaming device) during the school day.

All scholar wireless communication devices, including headphones, should be in scholar lockers or backpacks during the instructional day.

If an adult sees a device, it will be taken and held in the office, where the parent/guardian will be required to pick it up.

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in disciplinary action per our Student Code of Conduct. If the problem persists, additional consequences following the Code of Conduct will be given.

Cell phones and accessories (i.e., headphones, AirPods, earbuds, smart watches, etc.) are not allowed to be worn during school hours between 7:20 am and 2:20 pm. Adelante Schools is not responsible for lost or stolen cell phones, watches, AirPods, earbuds, video games, or any other electronic device.
