In accordance with Indiana Code § 20-26-5.5-2, the catalog of materials available in our school library is published and publicly accessible through the Library's website. Indiana law requires schools to screen students for characteristics associated with dyslexia and provide appropriate support when risk factors are identified.

At Adelante Schools, all scholars in kindergarten through second grade participate in an approved universal dyslexia screening as part of our reading program. Scholars in third grade and above may also be screened when they demonstrate difficulty with foundational reading skills.

Screenings assess skills such as phonological and phonemic awareness, sound-symbol recognition, alphabet knowledge, decoding, rapid naming, and encoding.

If screening results indicate that a scholar may be at risk for dyslexia, families will be notified and Adelante will provide appropriate interventions and, when needed, additional screening. Parent or guardian consent is required before Level 1 or Level 2 dyslexia screenings are administered.

These screenings help us identify reading needs early and ensure scholars receive targeted support to become strong, confident readers.
